10.10.2020 – I am writing this as I wake up on the morning of what would have been my wedding day. Today looks much different than what I imagined it would. Right now I imagine I would be nervous and excited and anxious as I sip my morning coffee in Calistoga, CA counting down the seconds until “I do”. Instead I am drinking my morning coffee as I write this blog post, with my puppy Seba at my feet.

This year has been a hard one for so many, but I hope that it has also been beautiful for us all. I know it has been for me. This year has reminded me that we don’t need much to be truly happy. Family, friends, health, meaningful connections; this is what truly matters. I feel so grateful for and so safe with Patrick. Although I don’t have the title of Mrs., I feel we have been connected by something much deeper for the past decade and our love has done nothing but grow stronger each year.

Fires have been ripping through Northern California this month and we are unsure if our venue still stands. Our wedding venue is in Napa Valley, and this is the worst fire in Napa Valley History. If our wedding would have been this year, we would have spent 2 weeks frantically looking for a backup venue and hotels for our guests. I can’t help but feel grateful that we were forced to postpone.

Patrick and I have been together for 10 years. We started dating in 2010 and it seemed serendipitous to get married on 10.10.2020. We still wanted to document this special date. Document a year that changed us and helped us grow in so many ways. Thank you to our wedding photographer, Lilly Red, our florist, Christine Cater and our family and friends who have made us feel so special this weekend.

I saw this Birenzweig gown and instantly thought it was one of the most exquisite wedding dresses I had ever seen. I had an appointment to try it on in New York, the week the shelter in place order was placed. I spent months dreaming of the dress after my cancelled NYC trip. Birenzweig made my dreams come true and got the dress to me so that I could wear it this weekend to honor our original wedding date.

We cannot wait to celebrate with our loved ones at our wedding next year on 10.09.2021. I have a feeling it will be more meaningful and more beautiful than I could ever imagine. xx
